Our Story
It started as a complaint.
Bingil Bay to the Blackall Range.
Trent and Jay grew up in Bingil Bay, a small stretch of Far North Queensland coast where sport was pretty much the whole social calendar and the trails behind town were the training ground. Different paths out: one into business, one into health. Both ended up on the Sunshine Coast, and both ended up doing ultras.
Which is where the complaint started. Neither of them could get gels to work. Not in training, and definitely not deep into a race - the syrup, the gut, the foils you can't open with cold hands, chews that melt in a vest pocket. And nothing on the market at all for the part that fails first: your head.
The complaint went on long enough that it turned into a spec. Jay had the physiology to explain what was going wrong. Trent had the commercial side to do something about it. Somewhere between the two, Enduro Gummy stopped being a conversation on a long run and became a product.

Jay
Co-Founder - Formulation & Physiology
Jay is a physiotherapist by training. He leads a pain division within Queensland Health and is completing a PhD in the field. The through-line in all of it is people - working out what's gone wrong for someone and getting them back to what they want to be doing. That's the job, and it's also why he was never going to leave a fuelling problem alone once he'd noticed it.
He's competed hard across more sports than most: climbing, running and sailing, with state and national representation over the years, and ultras for a good while now. Every serve of Enduro Gummy was calibrated by him - the dose, the ratios, the stack.
He and his family are deep in the Queensland running community - run clubs through the week, trail events on the weekend, kids at the finish line. That's also where the honest feedback comes from. If something isn't right, Jay hears about it before Monday.

Trent
Co-Founder - Commercial & Operations
Trent grew up in Bingil Bay, where sport was pretty much the whole social calendar. He played footy for years, went on to coach at senior level, and put in a fair few seasons of kids' netball along the way. If there was a season on, he was in it somewhere.
The ultras came later. Blackall 100 is where the product brief really came from. Past halfway it stops being about fitness and turns into a decision-making problem - you're not slow because your legs are gone, you're slow because you've stopped thinking straight, and because whatever's left in your vest is the last thing you want to swallow.
Trent runs the commercial and operations side of Crius. He does much the same thing in his day job, at considerably larger scale.
Made here, on purpose.
The easy version of this business is a formula bought off a shelf, a container ordered from overseas, and a logo on the front. We went the other way - an Australian facility, our own spec, and production runs small enough that we could change our minds and keep tweaking until it was right.
It costs more. It's also the only reason the product is what it is.
Formulated by a clinician. Tested by the people we run with.
Nothing in this pouch is a guess. It was calibrated by a physiotherapist who works in pain research and races on it, made in an Australian facility to our own spec, and put through Queensland trail runners and footballers who tell you straight when something doesn't work. That's the standard we're holding it to.
